WEST NORRITON — Plans to find a new school resource officer at Norristown Area High School moved from conceptual to actual as officials issued a joint statement Friday.

The personnel move formalized by West Norriton Township and Norristown Area School District officials came as area residents called for the installation of a new school resource officer in the wake of an immigration raid at a supermarket where more than a dozen undocumented immigrants were detained.

“We recognize the importance of re-establishing communication and trust with the entire community,” West Norriton Township and Norristown Area School District officials said in a joint statement issued Friday evening.
