BANGOR -- For those who've noticed the construction driving through Fourteenth Street in Bangor, it's due to a project that is years in the making.
Earlier this summer in the city of Bangor, construction began on a new pedestrian and bicycle path.
Its goal is to offer a better and safer connection from Ohio Street to downtown and the Kenduskeag Stream Trail.
According to the Jeff Davis, the city's Director of Engineering, plans for this project began in the fall of 2020 during a series of public meetings
"This was actually brought up multiple times in those public meetings with the residents that they would like to see either some bike lanes or some pedestrian improvements along this 14th Street Extension," said Davis.
The project's $463,000 cost is split between city funds and the
