Two teens have been charged in connection with a wilful fire at an abandoned Scots hospital. ‌

Emergency crews raced to the former Nithbank Hospital in Dumfries on Thursday September 18 after receiving reports of a fire in the derelict building. ‌

Two 14-year-old teenagers have now been arrested and charged in relation to wilful fire-raising at the site. ‌

Images from the scene showed fire crews in attendance and firefighters battling the blaze. Charred window frames and smashed glass could also be seen.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Two 14 year old youths have been arrested and charged in relation to wilful fire-raising that occurred at the former Nithbank Hospital site in Dumfries on Thursday 18th September 2025. They will be reported via Youth
