SHREVEPORT, La. - Two people are dead and six others were shot during a mass shooting early Saturday morning during a block party in a Shreveport neighborhood.
Those who were shot are expected to survive their injuries, Shreveport police said in a news release.
What's being called a "targeted attack" happened just after 2 a.m. in the 1600 block of Poland Avenue. Responding officers found a crowd of about 150 people.
Officers described the scene as "chaotic."
The intended target of the shooting was injured by gunfire but survived.
Chief Wayne Smith condemned the attack, saying in a statement, "This was a reckless and senseless act violence that cut short two lives and left families shattered. To those responsible -- turn yourselves in now. We will not stop every person involved is held
