Gary Mayor Eddie Melton appointed three members of the Gary/Chicago International Airport effective Sept. 1.

Vanessa McCloud, William Godwin and Tyrone Hamilton attended their first meeting Thursday. Their terms run through Aug. 31, 2029.

The airport authority is a seven-member board that enacts and oversees the policies, operations and budget of the airport.

The mayor of Gary appoints four members of the board, Lake and Porter counties appoint one each, and the governor appoints the chairman.

The chairman’s position is currently vacant after the departure of Pete Visclosky.
