The man killed after he was crushed by a falling jet engine at Boeing Center at Tech Port has been identified as David Monroe, the founder and chair of the San Antonio Museum of Science and Technology (SAMSAT).

Officials at the south-side event center confirmed Monroe's death in Friday's tragic incident.

On Friday, police said a crew was in the process of unloading the jet engine when disaster struck.

"They had it up on a rolling dolly," the SAPD representative said. "As he turned around to do something, the dolly with the engine on it began to roll back and they both fell off the four-foot dock."

SAPD said that's when the engine fell on Monroe, killing him.
