Two women died Friday night in a collision at the intersection of South Recker and East Ray roads, Gilbert police said.

Nicole Snell, a 36-year-old rideshare driver, and Marisa Jorgenson, 33, who was a backseat passenger, died at the scene, police said.

The 35-year-old man driving the Ford Explorer that crashed into their Honda Accord was taken to a hospital and will be booked into jail following his release, according to the Gilbert Police Department.

The crash occurred 9 p.m. Sept. 19, and Gilbert officers responded to find the two vehicles, one of which collided with a traffic signal pole and another that had rolled over.
