RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — As summer comes to an end, the sweet and tangy sauce-smothered goodness known as barbecue gets handed off from outdoor self-proclaimed grill masters to restaurants that can handle the heat in cooler weather.
So it's only right that Southern Living Magazine released its Editor's list this week of the best 50 BBQ joints in the South, and six restaurants from North Carolina made the list — including two restaurants in the Triangle area.
Sam Jones BBQ, known for making most of its barbecue Eastern-style, was ranked #29 by the magazine.
"Both Sam Jones BBQ locations straddle the old and the new, cooking whole hogs over open wood fired pits just like they do in Ayden and serving the chopped pork with paper boats of sweet coleslaw and thin squares of the family’s minimal
