MACON, Ga. — An abandoned business caught fire in Downtown Macon on Saturday morning.
The fire was at the old Goodtimes Lounge on 374 Walnut Street, which had been previously closed.
Chief John Goodwin from Macon-Bibb Fire's Battalion One said that there was heavy smoke on the front side of the building.
He said the fire was called in by a passerby at 10:17 a.m.
Goodwin said that it looked like there were squatters in the building, but none were there when the fire department arrived on the scene. He said that a lot of items that could have belonged to the squatters were left in the building and caught fire.
He said that it took around 20 minutes to put the fire out, and that one firefighter became dehydrated and went to Atrium Health Navicent. Goodwin said that the firefighter rece
