LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. (WNDU) - One person is dead after a crash between a bicycle and CMV motor vehicle at S.R. 39 and C.R. 900 North.

Deputies responded to the crash at 11:59 a.m. on Friday, and the initial on-scene investigation determined that a group of bicyclists were riding south on the shoulder of S.R. 39, nearing C.R. 900 North.

The CMV was being driven by a 64-year-old and headed south on S.R. 39. It moved left in a passing zone to pass the bicyclist group.

As the CMV moved left, one of the cyclists, now identified as 29-year-old Mason R. Anderson, also began to make a left turn onto C.R. 900 North.

The CMV steered further left to avoid Anderson, but unfortunately Anderson collided with the CMV. Anderson was pronounced deceased at the scene.
