The Wiarton Fall Fair is celebrating its 157th year in style.

One of the area’s oldest traditions continued Saturday at the Wiarton Arena and Bluewater Park with a full slate of activities held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Wiarton and District Agricultural Society board member and fair volunteer Janet Weatherhead said the key to a good fall fair is great volunteers and a good organization.

Weatherhead, who has been volunteering for over 25 years, said when people tell her they don’t want the “fair to die,” she’ll respond with “well, do you have four hours?”

The grandmother was busy on Saturday, shuffling classic cars into line and making sure the dozens of fair volunteers were set up for the day.
