The NFL fined Eagles running back Saquon Barkley $46,371 for lowering his helmet during last Sunday’s game against the Chiefs in Kansas City. The play took place with 10:32 left in the second quarter.
After Barkley caught a pass in the flat from quarterback Jalen Hurts, he lowered his head into the shoulder pad of safety Chamarri Connor and picked up extra yards before going out of bounds. The result of the play was a six-yard gain and Barkley was not flagged at the time.
It’s the second time in as many seasons that Barkley has been fined for the same offense. In Week 6 last season against the Cleveland Browns, he was fined $45,020 for lowering his head on a play that resulted in an eight-yard gain and no in-game penalty.
