Members of the South Carolina National Guard have returned home after a roughly month-long support role in Washington that began at the request of President Donald Trump.
The 4th Battalion, 118th Infantry Regiment of the South Carolina Army National Guard returned home on Saturday after supporting law enforcement in Washington. National Guard officials said they provided security at metro stations, patrolled the National Mall, assisted the community and tourists and were part of a visible presence at the White House.
Officials said Guardsmen also provided aid and helped catch a robbery suspect while deployed to the nation's capital.
