Disgraced former lawyer James Bowie’s appeal has been dismissed and he has been denied bail after being sentenced to four years of prison for criminal harassment, extortion and threats related to a former client.
Bowie, 43, was found guilty in March of criminal harassment and extorting a friend by pressuring her to obtain a gun to “take care” of his former client, Leanne Aubin.
Ontario Court Justice Paul Cooper found Bowie not guilty of one additional count of extortion related to Aubin, but found him guilty of uttering threats to kill her.

Bowie was sentenced to four years of jail on Sept. 2. He was credited 59 days for time already served in custody and will only have to stay 46 more months in jail.
