CORBETT, Ore. — Police are investigating a crash on Interstate 84 early Saturday that took the lives of one person and seriously injured another.
Around 3:45 a.m., Corbett Fire and Oregon State Police responded to an accident involving two vehicles near Rooster Rock at milepost 24, near Rooster Rock, with one vehicle fully engulfed in flames.
Paramedics pulled a person from one of the vehicles near the burning car while fire crews extinguished the flames and assisted with medical treatment.
The person rescued was transported to the hospital with serious injuries, while the driver of the other vehicle was declared dead at the scene.
"The quick action of the AMR medics clearly saved the occupant of the other vehicle," Corbett Fire said in a statement.
