Morton had engineered a solid start, completing 12 of 19 passes for 142 yards and showing sparks of his usual playmaking with a 73-yard connection to running back J’Koby Williams. He faced a crushing moment scrambling out of the pocket on a second-and-28 from the Texas Tech 7-yard line.
