Minnehaha County Republicans took the morning to remember and reflect on Charlie Kirk and his legacy.
About 350 people brought chairs and nabbed bench seats in front of the McKennan Park band shell on Sept. 20 to listen to speakers honor the slain conservative activist during a vigil.
Organizers aimed to have Kirk's remembrance stay as apolitical as possible and instead focus on viewing the young man's passing through a faith-based lens. Korry Peterson, Minnehaha County Republican Party chair, told the Argus Leader multiple representatives of candidates for political offices in South Dakota reached out to speak at the vigil, but the group turned them down.
