It was a night of OHL firsts at the TD Civic Centre on Saturday night – a first fight, a few first goals, first assists and a first win for the Brantford Bulldogs.
Facing the Peterborough Petes in their home opener, the Bulldogs scored a 5-1 victory, which came on the heels of 4-3 overtime loss on Friday to the Kitchener Rangers.
With the energy level already through the roof for the first home game, newly acquired enforcer Ryder Boulton increased the decibel level even further by dropping the gloves early on with Peterborough’s Thanasi Marentette.
Prior to the game, there were rumblings on social media about a possible bout between Boulton and Marentette. During pre-game warmups the two had a couple of conversations at centre ice.
