Working-class communities are angry but not racist amid the mass flying of Saltires and anti-migrant protests, a trade union chief has claimed. ‌

Roz Foyer, general secretary of the STUC, warned far-right voices are manipulating people who are furious about the state of their communities and rundown public services. ‌

The Raise the Colours phenomenon, which has seen flags put up on lampposts across the UK, was linked to protests at asylum hotels in England and Saltires have since appeared across Scotland. ‌

But anti- racism campaigners say the movement is clearly being whipped up by far-right agitators like Tommy Robinson.
