Time to trade your flip flops for fall season staples. It's officially the last weekend of summer.

Fall officially starts Monday, with the autumnal equinox.

The 2025 autumnal equinox will take place on Sept. 22 around 1:20 p.m. Central Daylight Time, according to NASA.

Mother Nature gave the Chicago area a taste of fall during the final days of the summer, with scattered storms across the Chicago area Saturday.

The final days of summer and the autumnal equinox in Chicago means the re-appearance of a local phenomenon called " Chicagohenge ."

"Chicagohenge" occurs twice every year, as the sun lines up with Chicago's east-west facing streets during the autumnal and vernal equinoxes that mark the start of the fall and spring seasons.
