GREENVILLE, N.C. – The BYU defense once again proved it can be one of the best in the country while decimating East Carolina in a 34-13 win.

Evan Johnson picked off consecutive ECU passes, with the second going for a pick six that gave his team a 13-3 halftime lead and all the momentum they would need in true freshman Bear Bachmeier’s first road start.

Bachmeier completed 18-of-25 passes for a career-high 246 yards and one touchdown to Carsen Ryan. He added 26 yards and a score on the ground, showcasing his dual-threat ability.

LJ Martin finished with his third consecutive 100-yard performance of the year after breaking a 41-yard run for his first touchdown of 2025.
