Berkeley County, S.C. (WCSC) - A search for a diver in distress at Bushy Park Boat Landing by the United States Coast Guard on Saturday has been suspended for the night.

The Coast Guard says they were called around 1 p.m. and were requested to assist with search and rescue efforts.

A helicopter was sent to assist and investigate, but did not locate the diver as of Saturday night.

Coast Guard officials say that Berkeley County authorities will handle the situation moving forward.

Agencies on scene included Charleston, Summerville, and Whitesville fire and rescue teams.
