There are five candidates vying for three seats on the Sunset Beach Town Council.

Incumbent Gerald "Gerry" Byrnes is seeking re-election, and he will face four other candidates in the race for the three seats: Sean Arnold, Katie Bordeaux, William Brougham, and Richard Dysinger. Jim Memory had also filed to run but withdrew from the race after the filing period ended.

This beach town is located in southern Brunswick County, and according to the town's website, it had 5,780 registered voters in 2024.

The town has a mayor-council form of government, with one mayor and a board of five councilors with one acting as the mayor pro tempore. This race is nonpartisan. In Sunset Beach, councilors serve four-year terms and receive a annual stipend of $2,205, paid in quarterly installments.
