Taylor Fritz stunned top-ranked Carlos Alcaraz 6-3, 6-2 as Team World swept Saturday's four matches to take a 9-3 lead over Team Europe at the Laver Cup in San Francisco

Fritz, ranked No. 5, beat Spain's Alcaraz for the first time in four ATP singles matches and defeated a reigning World No. 1 for another career first. Alcaraz had won 13 consecutive matches this year and was playing in his first singles match since capturing the U.S. Open for his sixth career Grand Slam singles crown.

The three-day hardcourt event features three singles matches and one doubles match per day, from Friday through Sunday. A match win Friday was worth one point. Wins are two points on Saturday and three points on Sunday. The first team to 13 points wins the event.
