Edmonton’s electoral process is garbage. Every election cycle there are so many people running that the eventual “winner” can be elected by less than thirty per cent of the electorate these folks like Sohi, Iveson, etc., then say they were given a mandate. What a farce. We need to change this and have runoffs whereby the top two vote getters have to square off for the win. With less than fifty per cent of eligible voters turning out and then someone gaining office with thirty per cent of the fifty per cent, the contenders pretty well represent nobody. How can this be considered legitimate? If special interests (developers, for instance) want, they can load and financially support any riding they want
