The Houston Astros and the Seattle Mariners are tightly locked in the AL Wild Card race. Houston dropped their top spot in the AL West after losing two straight games against the Mariners. With an 84-71 record, the Mariners are slightly ahead and will look forward to a sweep as they enter Game 3.

Cal Ralegh has been the Marines’ bright spot with his outstanding performance. He’s helped the team in crunch situations and leads the MLB with 57 home runs this season. The Mariners have a great chance to make the playoffs this time ahead of the Astros.

Yordan Alvarez’s injury was another hole in Houston’s lineup. Alvarez might not return until the postseason. Houston must earn their playoff spot and it’s not going to be easy with the Mariners holding a two-game lead.
