President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance and other top government officials were set to honor Charlie Kirk, the conservative activist who was assassinated Sept. 10 at a political event in Utah.

Kirk, 31, was the architect and the voice of Turning Point USA , the political organization he founded as a teenager.

He worked to bring young people into the conservative fold and became a close ally to the president during his life. Kirk reached millions through his conservative talk show and by turning college campus debates into viral social media clips.
