Brighton & Hove Albion head coach Fabian Hurzeler has called for Carlos Baleba to stay humble after Manchester United considered a swoop for him this summer.

No move materialised during the summer transfer window after United delayed any deal until next year, because Brighton valued Baleba at around £100million. The player was keen on making the switch, but ultimately remained on the south coast.

A slow start to the season has followed, with Hurzeler substituting the midfielder either on, or off, in all six of their matches. Baleba did not even start against Bournemouth in their first contest after September's international break.

He then came off at half-time - which also happened when Brighton played Everton last month - during their 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur
