FRANKLIN, W.Va. (WBOY) — A truck caught on fire during a festival parade in Pendleton County, and had it not been for citizens in attendance, it could have gotten much worse.

According to a Facebook post from the Pendleton County Office of Emergency Management, when the fire broke out during the Treasure Mountain Festival on Saturday, people managed to keep the fire under control with fire extinguishers until the Franklin Volunteer Fire Department arrived on scene.

"Due to close proximity to one of the vendor stands and overhead telephone lines, had the fire gotten out of control, things could have been much worse," the Pendleton County OEM said.

No injuries or damage to nearby structures was mentioned in the post.
