PEOSTA, Iowa — Northeast Iowa Community College (NICC) has received a $454,000 grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to revamp four advanced manufacturing programs into Competency-Based Education (CBE) formats over the next three years.

The grant, provided through NSF’s Advanced Technological Education program, will transform NICC's Industrial Automation & Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance Technician, Engineering Technology, and Computer Numerical Control programs. The CBE model allows students to progress at their own pace, which is particularly advantageous for working adults, veterans, and rural learners.
