BEREA, Ohio — A townhome development in Berea’s Northend is moving forward after city officials resolved longstanding infrastructure concerns and selected a new proposal that meets all of the city’s goals.

Mayor Cyril Kleem said the updated plan calls for 77 townhomes split between two sites on city-owned property, including land on the opposite side of Front Street. The project, a joint venture between developer George Davis and Ryan Homes, will generate $1.2 million for the city, more than double the per-acre revenue compared to the 2022 plan that was put on hold.

“It’s significant in helping us both pay down outstanding debt on the property while having some money in addition to that to pay for other expenditures,” Kleem said.
