BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - The life of a 13-year-old boy killed by a suspected drunk driver has not been forgotten.
Friends and family of Braylen Hardy gathering this weekend to celebrate what would have been his 14th birthday. Physically he wasn’t there – but his family says they have confidence he is looking down on them.
“He was a superstar, he was our little superstar,” said Billy Fagnes, Braylen’s great uncle.
Even though his time was cut short, the size of the crowd at a balloon release for Braylen spoke for itself. They say he impacted so many people in his 13 years of life.
“He was a great kid, when he came into the room with a smile, he’d light up the room just smiling,” Fagnes said.
His 14th birthday came almost a year after his death.
“He was an A-student, he had high i
