One person is dead and several others are injured following a shooting at Sky Meadow Country Club in Nashua, New Hampshire, on Saturday night. The incident occurred around 8 p.m. Eastern Time at the country club, located about 45 miles northwest of Boston, Massachusetts. Authorities confirmed that an adult male was killed, while the conditions of the injured victims have not been disclosed.

New Hampshire Attorney General John Formella and Nashua Police Chief Kevin Rourke provided updates on the situation late Saturday. They stated that a person of interest has been detained, but no formal charges have been filed yet. Initial reports suggested that there were two armed suspects, but police later clarified that surveillance footage indicated there was only one shooter.

"Video surveillance has confirmed there was only one shooter and they are currently being detained. The scene is still an active investigation but there is no further danger to the public," Nashua police said.

Witnesses described a chaotic scene unfolding during a wedding reception at the country club. Sophie Flabouris, who was present, recounted how the shooting occurred in a nearby restaurant. She said someone struck the shooter with a chair, causing the suspect to flee through the reception area and into the kitchen. Flabouris hid under a table before escaping to a locker room. "It's very scary to experience something like that," she said.

Tom Bartelson, another witness, reported hearing the shooter make statements such as "the children are safe" and "free Palestine" before firing shots. He described the panic that ensued as guests ducked for cover. "We heard about six shots and everybody ducked for cover and next thing you know we’re rushed into safe spots," he said.

Evie O’Rourke, who was at the event, expressed concern for her son, who she said went down during the shooting. "We don’t know where he is. He went down. My daughter-in-law and granddaughter escaped... They saw my son go down and they saw blood, and we can’t find him," she said.

Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene, and a shelter-in-place order was issued for nearby neighborhoods, which has since been lifted. Nashua Mayor Jim Donchess expressed confidence in law enforcement's ability to handle the situation. "I think the message is for every community out there is that no matter how unlikely it seems it can happen where you live," he said.

Sky Meadow Country Club is a private facility that features a golf course, restaurants, and event spaces. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Nashua Police Department.
