The butthole-less puppy who touched the hearts of Perth residents has made huge strides in his medical journey, being able to poop independently for the first time in his little life.

Tooshie made headlines in June after the five-week-old cavoodle was surrendered to Warwick Vet by a backyard breeder.

Veterinarians at the Warwick practice diagnosed the puppy with Atresia ani — a rare birth defect with less than 120 documented cases that results in the anus being missing or blocked.

At the time of his surrender, Warwick Vet practice manager Kate Doyle said it was “extremely rare” for a dog to survive so long without being able to poop.
