FARMINGTON, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — When news spread that a young boy had gone missing overnight in Farmington, volunteers quickly stepped up to help.

Hundreds gathered at Farmington High School, where police coordinated search efforts. Despite the pouring rain, community members turned out to search for the child.

Fred Gates, a father of ten, said he volunteered because if it were one of his own children, he would hope the community would do the same.

“So me and my family went down there, and I was just kind of looking at this stuff and thinking, you know, it’s all… maybe if he was walking down the street, somebody hit him on the road and drove away. I don’t know. I was hoping I didn’t find anything—and I didn’t,” said Fred Gates, volunteer.
