PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) -- A longtime staple in Peoria’s bowling community is closing its doors, but not without one last celebration.
This weekend, Landmark Lanes hosted its farewell doubles tournament, drawing more than 80 teams for the final competitive event inside the historic alley. Tournament organizer Joseph Ward said the response was overwhelming, with 120 teams signing up in less than a day after the event was announced.
For decades, Landmark Lanes has been more than just a place to bowl. It hosts professional events, IHSA competitions, and fundraisers that raise thousands of dollars for causes like Alzheimer’s research. Ward said the closure will be felt well beyond the bowling community.
