DETROIT -- A winless homestand is not how the Detroit Tigers wanted to head into their most important series of the season.

The Tigers lost to the Atlanta Braves 6-2 on Sunday afternoon at Comerica Park, finishing their final homestand of the season 0-6 and limping into a do-or-die showdown in Cleveland.

The losses couldn’t have come at a worse time. Detroit (85-71) has watched its once-robust lead in the American League Central dwindle. The Cleveland Guardians (84-71) entered the day one game behind and are currently playing in Minnesota.
