A local non-profit held an event on Sunday to give those on the autistic spectrum a creative outlet.
Band Together Erie provides musical opportunities and experiences to individuals with autism in an effort to enhance their lives.
Sunday afternoon, the group organized an autism friendly open mic at Kellar's Magic & Comedy Club, creating a space for those on the spectrum to sing, play an instrument or even try stand-up comedy in front of a crowd.
Organizers hoped to provide social opportunities and shed light on talent.
Nick Pompeani, volunteer with Band Together Erie, said, "There's some people that are individuals on autism that are non-verbal and you can learn how to be verbal by going to social events. Play musical instruments, do whatever you want to do. It's for you. Be yourself."
