SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) -- A man died in Springfield on Saturday after being hit by a car the day before.

Jim Allmon, Sangamon County Coroner, said a pedestrian, identified as 55-year-old Walter David Arnold, was brought to HSHS St. John’s Hospital on Sept. 19. Allmon said Arnold had been hit by a vehicle near the intersection of South Dirksen Parkway and Rochester Road.

Arnold was pronounced dead at the hospital at 7 a.m. on Sept. 20. An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday. The Sangamon County Coroner’s Office and the Springfield Police Department are investigating.
