TAMPA — Manager Alex Cora on Sunday revealed the Red Sox pitching plans for the final road series of the year and it contained a noteworthy adjustment.
The Red Sox have lined up Lucas Giolito for the Tuesday start in Toronto, followed by Garrett Crochet and then Brayan Bello in the series finale Thursday.
Crochet and Bello were actually flipped; Crochet last pitched Friday here in the opener while Bello last pitched Thursday in the final game of the team’s homestand.
“That gives Bello a breather,” said Cora, “and keeps Garrett in line for that one (thanks to Monday’s off-day) and hopefully, for our big one (a Game 1 wild card assignment).”
