The Chattanooga women’s soccer team dropped a hard-fought Southern Conference matchup to Samford, 2-0, Sunday afternoon at the Samford Track and Soccer Stadium.
The Mocs move to 7-3-1 overall and 1-1-0 in conference play, while the Bulldogs improve to 4-2-4 on the year and 1-0-1 against the league.
UTC outshot the Bulldogs 15-14 and placed 10 shots on target but were unable to find the back of the net. The team had a chance for the equalizer on a penalty kick that missed the mark in the 38th minute.
Samford opened the scoring in the 30th minute and sealed the win with a goal in the 85th to pick up its first victory in league play.
Paige Thomas and Caroline Richvalsky led the Mocs in shot attempts, combining for nine shots and five on goal. Goalkeeper Caroline Ekern made five saves.
