Nikita Alexandrov scored the lone goal for the Blues as they dropped their second game to open the preseason with a 4-1 loss in Columbus on Sunday night.

Alexandrov deflected Justin Carbonneau's shot from the top of the circle in the second period to cut the Blue Jackets lead to 2-1. Columbus scored twice in the third period to seal the game.

Joel Hofer started the game in goal for the Blues, and he allowed two goals on 15 shots during his two periods of action. Vadim Zherenko played the third period, and gave up one goal on six shots before Mathieu Olivier tacked on an empty-net goal in the final minute.

The assist was Carbonneau's second point of the preseason, as he scored the Blues' only goal during Saturday's 2-1 shootout loss in Dallas. He is the only player to play in both presea
