BEAUMONT, Texas — Former students of Blessed Sacrament Catholic School reunited September 19-21 in Beaumont for a three-day celebration that marked six decades since the historic institution closed its doors in 1965.
The school, built in 1917 specifically to provide Catholic education to Black and Indigenous children, held special significance as one of the institutions established by Sister Catherine Drexel, now a Catholic saint.
The reunion weekend began Friday, September 19 from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. with a meet and greet at the Holiday Inn in Beaumont.
Saturday's events included a yard party from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Brother's Club located at 4480 Warren St. The evening featured a banquet and dance from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at the Dorie Miller American Legion Hall at 3430 West Cardin
