LOUISVILLE, Ky. —

One person died in a food plant explosion in Shively on Sunday, officials said.

Around 12:40 p.m., the Louisville Fire Department and Shively Fire were dispatched to the AAK Louisville plant in the 2500 block of Seventh Street Road for a fire alarm.

On the way to the scene, crews were informed that there was a possible explosion that had injured one person.

When they got there, they did not find a fire but were led to an area where an explosion had happened by plant personnel.

Officials say the explosion stemmed from a hydrogen tank conversion process.

During the investigation, crews found one person who was fatally injured in the explosion.

Authorities say the explosion was contained in the interior of the building.
