Anthony Albanese hasn’t ruled out the possibility of an official bilateral meeting with Donald Trump while in New York, telling reporters to “wait and see”.
The Prime Minister has also denied that Australia’s decision to recognise a Palestinian statehood at the UN General Assembly would hurt his chance of a sit down with the US President .
In a breakfast blitz of media appearances on Monday, the PM spoke talked up his “friendly” relationship with the US President after four phone calls but couldn’t confirm whether they would hold official talks.
“We’ll wait and see,” the PM said, when asked on Sky News if a meeting could be ruled out.
He added: “But I won’t be preempting those issues. I look forward to meeting with President Trump at some stage.
