A motorcyclist has died following a crash on Route 590 near Monroe Avenue, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

The crash, which involved a single motorcycle and rider, occurred Saturday night when the vehicle struck a guide rail, said Monroe County Sheriff's Sgt. Paolo Saieva.

The rider, whose identity has not been released, died from injuries sustained in the crash, Saieva said.

The roadway was closed during the investigation but has since reopened.

No further details were immediately released.
