The Kansas City Chiefs avoided their first 0-3 start since 2011 by beating the New York Giants 22-9 on Sunday night. Despite early mistakes and penalties, the Chiefs controlled the second half and earned their first win of the season, improving to 1-2. The Giants dropped to 0-3 after another sluggish offensive performance.

Patrick Mahomes completed 22 of 37 passes for 224 yards and one touchdown, connecting with Tyquan Thornton through the air and setting up a Kareem Hunt 1-yard scoring run in the fourth quarter to secure the victory. Mahomes also recovered his own fumble earlier in the game and added a highlight 33-yard pass to Thornton on the decisive drive. Isiah Pacheco led Kansas City’s ground game with 45 yards on 10 carries.
