An 18-year-old woman accused of assaulting a young boy at a Bathurst childcare centre is set to face court.

Police allege the woman grabbed the arm of a four-year-old boy on July 11, pulled him across a room and then threw him onto a mattress.

Officers also claim the child’s shirt ripped near the armpit during the ordeal.

The incident was reported to authorities on August 29, sparking an investigation that led to the woman being issued with a court attendance notice.

“The woman is no longer employed by the childcare centre,” police confirmed in a statement.

The alleged assault occurred at a facility in Bathurst.

The woman is scheduled to appear before Bathurst Local Court on November 17.
