PLYMOUTH, Mass. (WLNE) — Her murder trial may be over, but Karen Read is only beginning her civil trial in the death of her former boyfriend, John O’Keefe.

That trial is set to begin today in Plymouth County Superior Court.

In the civil trial, the family of John O’Keefe is seeking a wrongful death lawsuit against Read.

Read was the focus of two highly-publicized criminal trials in 2024 and 2025 and in the second one was found not guilty .

Her first stint in court resulted in a mistrial due to a hung jury.
