PLYMOUTH, Mass. —

A hearing is scheduled for Monday in a civil lawsuit that is tied to the Karen Read case.

The family of Boston police officer John O'Keefe is suing Read and Canton bars C.F. McCarthy's and the Waterfall Bar and Grille.

The wrongful death lawsuit seeks monetary damages for O'Keefe's death.

Read was found not guilty of murder this summer after her second high-profile trial in the death of O'Keefe, her boyfriend, a Boston police officer, but guilty of a lesser charge of drunken driving.

It was a victory for Read's defense team, which has long claimed that someone else was responsible for killing O'Keefe and that Read was the victim of a law enforcement cover-up. O'Keefe was found dead during a snowstorm on Jan. 29, 2022.
